From the diary of Silvan the Dryad Session date: 12.10.2003 6.2. Weather: Heavy wind, rain. We decided to give in to their demands, even though Longfoot wanted to get himself killed. We took the stone slabs away from the island. Longfoot walked around the island and reported that he'd heard the sound of mages casting spells. We returned to talk with the mages. We listened, but didn't hear anything from inside. We could see lamps and a few candles burning, but no mages. We decided to break & enter. Buran went inside. He found a letter from the battlemages. In the letter, they thanked us for our help hauling away the stones, and also thanked us for being stupid. They couldn't have gotten out without our help. We guessed the stones we'd taken off the isle had been magic- dampening stones. We searched the building. We found a library that'd been looted, but were able to find the mage's diary anyway. Then we found a laboratory. There was lots of glass on the floor. We decided whoever had been here had wanted to be as quick as possible. There were four intact bottles in the lab, which we took. We took a lot of clothes with us - they were of a very good quality. Then opened a cupboard. There was a small chest inside. We took it with us. Having looted the place, we left. There was debate over what we should do with the magic-dampening stones. We thought about taking the stones to the Master. We took the stones to the Master's lair. The Master was not at home, but his representative took the stones anyway. We were told that the Master's name was Galileus. After having taken the clothes we found to the inn, we sought out the lieutenant to report. He was a little annoyed about the battlemages having looted the island, but after handing him the letter we'd been left, we noticed it now said something quite different from before... he didn't take us very seriously after reading it. We went back to the river to check the situation. All was nice and quiet, aside for the rain that kept soaking us and the wind that kept freezing us. We returned to the inn and opened the chest we'd found. Our zombie got acid on his face. Inside we found a gold and a silver ring, plus a set of keys. Longfoot tried the rings, and noticed he couldn't get the silver ring off his finger anymore. Bummer. We went downstairs and began drying ourselves. Me and the demon studied the ABC-book again. We overheard nobles talking about how this wasn't going to be a proper court meeting because even commoners had been invited. We went to sleep. 7.2. We saw the old man and Rondo in the inn. They told us the ring was worth a fortune. Longfoot was very glad that it was hard to take from him. They didn't know how to undo the curse. The silver ring didn't seem to have any particular powers. The demon kept asking the old man about wings. There were heavy clouds and heavy wind. Buran did some clothes-shopping. We asked the lieutenant about the shipping across the river, but he didn't know. The Big Meeting's today. I went to play with the local kids. After a while, we saw people gathering and leaving for the Big Meeting. Time passed, and eventually the Meeting must've ended. The people we saw leaving it seemed to be arguing among themselves. We beered Rondo and Werner for information. They'd seen the queen. She'd been in a slightly bad shape, but had felt good enough to still host the Big Meeting. The leader of the mage school had welcomed Galileos, who'd supposedly come from the far-away city of Dalandor. Galileos said that the people in Dalandor had been worried about the god business taking place here. Battlemages from Aleandor were also introduced. There was a mage called Nereida, who was supposed to be from Aleandor or Myrnur, but none of our subjects had ever heard of her. Rendan, second in command of the sword elves, had explained the situation about how the orcs were gathering by the Desert Clan village. The people hadn't liked the way how Daylo and Lord Wiltshire were missing from the meeting. Dazzmagaar of the Dark Elves had known about the orc movements. Everybody was asked to arm themselves in the case of a possible orc invasion. The local garrisons had already been placed on alert. Mages were being sent to clean the undead from the river. The Master said there was a cult working with the trolls, but that he could take care of them. About the orc artifact, it was believed the orcs would try to use their artifact the next night. Fangas' Scythe was probably by the temple, and it was believed the orcs would try to free Fangas then. The queen ordered all capable men to arms to face the invasion. Four units and their commanders were chosen: Under Antonius: Mage school students Under Galileus: His travelers and people from the city Under Nereida: Battlemages Under Rendan: sword elves and Sentinels Buran talked with the Master. The Master wanted us with his own unit. He told us to keep an eye on Nereida, and Buran told him our Aleandorian friends had never heard of Nereida. Buran reported our quest to the island. The Master was pleased. We were told to report at the Sentinel Tower. After arming ourselves, we reported at the Sentinel Tower as ordered. Each unit had both fighters and mages with them. We joined the Master's unit. We saw a very anorectic-looking queen. She was being carried in a chair. She held a rousing speech to lift morale, or something. The orcs were not to be allowed across the river. The queen herself was coming to the battlefield. The queen had a half-orc bodyguard, Zarnak. We were part of the Master's elite. He might even care if we jumped in a river. The battlemages were whispering and pointing at us, laughing. It began to rain, a light ripple. The units began marching. Advance scouts reported that the orcs were crossing the river, and there was fierce fighting to repel them. Antonius asked what we were doing here, and the Master told him we were with him. Strategy was discussed. The sword elves suggested we wait out and see what would happen. Anotonius and the Master thought the mages should start things, and the Master thought we should start -now-, but the queen was against this. Dazzmagaar thought the orcs were attacking and said we just start the attack. Nereida and the queen seemed to be sharing a secret plan. The queen forbade anybody from attacking before she gave the order. Everybody suddenly looked up. The queen asked if Zarak was sure, and he said he was. It was said the enemy was conducting aerial recon. They talked about Quaylan, but he was nowhere to be found. Wiltshire was also discussed. Something was happening, and people were looking worried. It began to rain harder. Nereida liked it, and so did the Sword Elves. Thunder struck. We saw the orcs throwing each other down from the temple. On a three branch sat a man, who the queen thought was the god of war. The Master suggested we take care of him, but this was not seen as a high priority. A lone orc got to the top of the temple, preparing to do something. It was decided we do something about it. The battlemages began a mass hum, sending sword elves to the top of the temple. They killed the orc and got back, and the orcs charged. The scythe was handed back to the queen. Nereidan began to cast a spell and the others were told to wait. All of the rain began to fall in the river and the river only. It began to refill, and the orcs were grabbed by the water. The orc army broke and ran. The god of war had vanished. Once the orcs were all running, the queen gave the attack sign, and the rest of the orc army was ran through. People realized that Nereidan was the god of water. She bowed to the queen, and was hit by 4-5 arrows from the air. Zarnak pulled his bow and shot his special arrows in the air. Something fell from the air at us, and the Master burned it into ashes before it could crush us. Folks rushed to attack, but the Master told us to stay put. It looked like the god of water was going to die. The old man and the Master both offered to heal Ulean's wounds with their life magic. The old man looked at Dazz. People suddenly froze in their places. The Master walked to Ulenlan. Ulenlan said "you bastard" to the Master. The Master killed Ulenlan and everybody just stared. The Master told us to be quiet and began to cast a spell. Ulenlan returned to the ground and the others began to move. Dazz started approaching, but Ulenlan's body suddenly vanished. The old man began looking for something in the ground, saying that something should've been left behind. The queen was most annoyed, and dismissed us and the Master, who unbeknownst to the others had Ulenlan's head with him. He teleported us to the orc village and told us to loot the huts. We searched the huts: a mess hall, a torture chamber, others. Documents were found, as well as a dead dwarf. The Master was very happy about what had happened today. He took his things with him and left. We resuced the slaves and speculated about stupid dryad-as-a- kite plans. We began to return. There was much bickering - the Aleandorian mages were being blamed for wanting to grab themselves too many artifacts. We crossed the orcish bridge and saw many bards. We spoke with the old man. He told us the Master apparently had mind control magic, because the mirror artifact could only improve already existing skills.
