From the diary of Silvan the Dryad Session date: 12.4.2004 27.3. Werner asked what we were going to do now and if he could come along. Buran told him that he could come along if he wanted to, but we were working for Galileus and G had made sure that we understood that we didn't tell outsiders anything. Buran had told the Old Man as much as he could, and if the Old Man hadn't told Werner something, Buran wasn't going to, either. Werner wanted to find what we'd do next. Buran told him he could go ask Galileus. About halfway to Myrnur, we noticed some people who looked like they might be MMM. They were traveling with a wagon. We were given admittance to the Royal Palace and went to the rooms we were assigned. Hera went to talk with the Master, and didn't want anybody with her. Werner went to ask Galileus if he could hang along with us. Hera returned with our pay, 60 bronze. The Master also returned Buran's sword, having already extracted the spirit. Buran's sword now held nine spirits again. Our orders were to try to find out where the Book of Necreegh was and to search for any information regarding Marlin. The Master was moving all of his troops here, and thought it'd be good if he'd get some sort of attack going against the demons. The Master thought the Inquisitor's Spirit Orb machine must have been some sort of torture device at first. Necromancy must've been used to create it, which was worrying, since not many people knew Necromancy right now. He'd have to talk with Ornon about it. Werner returned from his discussion with Galileus, and said that since he refused to take a Spirit Orb, he'd be our responsibility. Since we refused to do that, he left us, saying he'd form his own adventuring party to find out about these things. We went to look around in town. A place called Gorgon seemed to be a good place to eat, so we went there, despite our suspicions of people randomly being turned into stone. A waiter tried to ask the undead if he was an undead, but he said he wasn't. While we were eating, the undead began to get weird convulsions. The waiters ran to the scene, swearing. "He was an undead after all! Didn't you know that undead can't eat anything from the chaos dimension?" The waiters offered to take care of the problem at the cost of two silvers. They'd take the undead away to Ornon, the local necromancer. We agreed. Longfoot asked who the original owner of the place was, and was told that it had originally been owned by Fleandor and then by Quaylan, and Quaylan had been forced to sell it cheaply to the Royal House because the trade couldn't be confirmed for Fleandor had vanished. Longfoot wanted to sell the Pie Cousin's bedroll. I suggested that it be returned to his family, but Longfoot said no and decided to pick on me. Longfoot is a meanie. I went to play with the local kids instead. We saw a place called Seriander's Scouts. We continued to Ornon's place. There we found our undead, as expected. He told us to just go inside. [Out of character note: Ornon now knows all about the Master, the universe and everything. Thanks for all the guts.] Buran went inside and left us outside. Buran came back inside after a while. Longfoot pointed a loaded bow at him and asked him if he was okay. We went inside to show Ornon the Amulet of Experience. Longfoot refused to give the AoE for experimenting. Buran and Longfoot started fighting over the amulet. Finally Longfoot agreed to give it. Ornon put it in some sort of Device of Analyzing +10. Ornon discovered some details of how the spirit had been bound to the amulet. It was his familiar's spirit, and some Mind Control magic had been used. Ornon was not very familiar with MC magic. Ornon wanted the amulet back at some point. He thought it might be a good idea if the Master took the amulet, for if Ornon at some point could take the familiar's spirit out, the familiar could tell him everything that it had experienced while inside the amulet. We then left and returned to report to the Master. He said he'd go visit Ornon in a few days, since he was a little busy at the moment. We then went to visit Seriander's Scouts. There was an old half-elf present. He look really old and in a bad shape. As we marched in, he commented that if we wanted to hire any scouts, all of the remotely good ones had already been hired. We told them we wanted any available material they had of the caves below Myrnur and Aleandor. There weren't very many of those materials, either, since Galileus had also wanted them. The half-elf suggested that we'd try to hire scouts who were used to living in the caves, such as dwarves, kobolds or goblins. He'd heard of a goblin who could track anyone, anywhere. The half-elf gave us directions to the goblin village. We paid him 10 silver in exchange for him forgetting this hint he'd given us. Others went to a tavern to eat, and I went to a tree to sleep. 28.3. We went to buy an Amulet of Lightning, but they had run out of them. They had a new shipment coming within an hour, but we could get one from the raft village for 5 silver cheaper. We headed for the Raft Village. We noticed that the grave yard had expanded from the version in the map. We bought tree Amulets of Lightning from the shop. When we passed through the village, we noticed a human and a half-elf. We overheard how the human complained over the fact that he had a horrible hangover. The other offered him something to drink, and the human called the half-elf Angela for being so kind. We heard that the Inquisitor was called Quantor. We went to Myrnur to report to Angela our current plan (going to the caverns to search for the Book of Necreegh). A lake was said to have an entrance to the caverns at the bottom of it, so we went there. Hera cut down a tree using my mage axe. We used it as a boat. Buran and Hera cast big bubbles of air that let us get to the underwater entrance without getting wet. I rode piggy back with Hera. When we continued walking, we encountered a man who stepped from the shadows. He required a toll of 10 silver pieces, saying that people who used this entrance were usually wealthy. The man was a member of the Hoods thieves' guild. Buran turned to us and muttered to his beard, "get closer and then try to kill him if necessary. I'll try to talk us out of this, though." When he started approaching, the man shouted, "just one person, unarmed, with the money!" Buran sent Hera to negotiate. She walked closer to him, and the man said, "Good that you decided to be reasonable. And don't try anything." Hera seduced him, and he let Hera get past for free. She used her powers of charm to take over his mind. He told us that there'd soon be an ambush. If he wouldn't send a message saying that we could pass, they'd attack. There were two mages, two archers and one melee combatant. Session close: 20:00 12.4.2004
